Learning new things nowadays can be complicated and take a lot of time. Many people have busy lives, and sitting down to read a book may not be an option. Fortunately, technology is on our side and we can find new ways to continue growing and learning, and one of these ways is through Blinkist, a platform that summarizes books and offers you the highlights of each title.

Blinkist has many features and tools available, and we gave it a try to explore all the benefits of having an app like this one on hand. In this post, we will share with you what this app is, how it works, and our experience with the app, and at the end of the article, you will find instructions on how to download Blinkist.

Blinkist is here to save you a ton of time

Blinkist will curate the perfect reading list according to your preferences and favorite topics. It will add incredible titles, recommended authors, and pieces, so you can browse for your favorite book and start to learn.

You will find a summary of the book with the highlight of each chapter. You can read it or listen to the audio version, and each chapter won’t take you more than 2 or 3 minutes. It is the perfect capsule of information for the busy person who still wants to educate themselves in their favorite subject.

The app is paid and it works with a subscription-based. However, for a small fee, you can have access to hundreds of titles, and you can access the summary of any book you are interested in.

Our experience with Blinkist: is it a helpful tool?

We decided to test this platform and see how helpful it could be for someone on the go. The first thing that we found relevant it's the recommendation system. It has many categories and is very specific, which we found helpful in curating a great list of titles.

Our free trial - which you can access too easily without payment details - offers you 1 title per day (not necessarily related to your preferred topics), and a few other titles that you can find by browsing. Most popular books are locked until you subscribe to the platform.

We found a couple of free titles that we enjoyed. You have access to the text version and audio version, and both are very short, concise, and to the point.

It is worth noting that the summaries are created by third parties, not the author of the book. We say this because, in our experience, some titles were cleverly explained in a few words, while others seemed to lack some information or fill the space with irrelevant information that could be omitted.

Is Blinkist worth paying for?

We tried the free version and the paid version. In our opinion, Blinkist can be worth the price if you are always busy, with little to no time, but you want to dedicate 5 to 10 minutes a day to learning something new.

However, as we mentioned, it seems that for some books, the summary is not prioritized well, and you end up absorbing information that could be easily ignored. Other titles are incredibly well prepared and you can gain a lot in a couple of lines. So, there is not a consistent outlook throughout the platform, and it is hard to know what to expect from each book.
