Google Tasks’ features that simplify task management
We tried the app for a couple of weeks, and our experience with it is fairly positive. Its simplicity is by far one of the best assets since everybody can use the app and understand perfectly what is happening and how to get the best out of it. Another great benefit of Google Tasks is the compatibility and integration with other Google platforms.
The feature that we enjoyed the most was the ability to create different lists. Google Tasks enables the creation of subtasks, breaking down larger tasks into manageable steps. Additionally, users can set reminders, ensuring important tasks are not overlooked.
However, the app’s simplicity can also be its downfall, especially when comparing the platform with other productivity apps that offer more features and tools in the same space. Even though you can manage different tasks and divide them by category, there are features still missing that could improve the performance of the platform.
Our favorite features of Google Tasks
Integration with Gmail and Google Calendar allows for quick task creation directly from emails or calendar events. This cohesive integration enhances productivity by centralizing task management within familiar Google applications.
The user-friendly interface of Google Tasks makes it easy to create new tasks, set due dates, and organize items into different lists. With drag-and-drop functionality, rearranging tasks becomes effortless.
Substacks allow you to create lists and break down larger tasks. The feature is helpful for managing bigger projects and tagging other users. You can progress and track everybody’s activities easily.
Lastly, adding reminders to get notifications about specific tasks and dates.
Our least favorite features of the app
On our week's trial, the app was helpful in managing all tasks and information. However, compared with other to-do list apps, Google Tasks lacks features. Its simplicity leaves the app on a basic level that is equally helpful as taking notes in a notebook.
We cannot say the least favorite feature, but instead, the lack of features of the app, like the ability to add images, create complex notes, lists hierarchy, tasks dependency, and other features that management apps can have.
Therefore, is Google Tasks worth it?
For teams, it depends on if your team is already integrated with the Google ecosystem. If not, we don’t recommend using the app for this, and instead, check out similar platforms.
For personal use, especially if you want something simple to keep track of your tasks and activities, the app is ideal. Simple, easy to understand, and it works smoothly.
