Photo editing is essential nowadays. From social media to personal web pages, everybody has a profile and persona online, and creating the best images to post is important. Fortunately, there are several tools we can use to enhance the quality of our photos, edit, and improve the aesthetic. One of the popular apps to do this is Remini, an editor that uses AI to create the best photos ever. 

We were intrigued by Remini and its capabilities, especially being an app using AI. Many tools are integrating artificial intelligence, but most of them could be better and offer questionable results. Is Remini an exception? We put it to the test and we tell you everything about our experience in this post.

Remini improves your photos with the help of AI

Photo editors are hundreds, but editors using artificial intelligence? Not many. The AI revolution is also touching the photography and video industry, and now we can have access to incredible tools for free. Remini is one of these apps that allows you to upload a picture to the platform, and by choosing a filter, it completely transforms it. 

The app has some basic features, like enhancing the quality and color of your pictures. It is very simple to use, you just tap on these options and it will be done. These are great for older or vintage pictures, and if you want to restore the color and quality, Remini can help you with that. 

Besides the basics, the app also has extra fun features, like creating a 90’s yearbook image (which became a trend on TikTok), adding background to your selfies, taking a selfie and transforming it into a professional photo for your resume or business, and more. The app is very intuitive and allows you to tweak your images quickly. 

But, is it really good? Are the results believable or not?

Remini highs and lows: our experience with the app

We must admit we didn’t have high hopes for this app. We have seen the capabilities of AI with photography, and most times, we ended up disappointed. The results weren’t believable, the images were distorted, and overall it looked bad. But Remini, since the beginning, was a surprise. 

Best features of this app

Not only the results were incredibly real, but we should say astonishingly accurate and specific. This app is a great tool to restore old pictures because it highlights details that you didn’t even know were there in the first place. It also is an amazing tool for editing blurred or out-of-focus pictures in just a couple of minutes, a feature that we think could be helpful for even professional photographers. 

Now, enhancing the quality of a picture could be considered basic for an AI. The real test was the creative aspect of it when the AI needed to completely transform an image into something else. We did the test with the 90’s yearbook, and we were surprised with the results. The best description could be “so good that it’s creepy”.  How can this free app turn a random selfie into something else? We don’t know, but we are truly enjoying it. 

Our not-so-favorite features

Does it have any bad features or downsides? Well, we found only one: the amount of ads that are placed to get just one picture is almost painful to bear. For a free app that is this good, we think it’s worth it, but if you don’t like intrusive ads, you might want to choose the premium version of this app.
